Association of Classified Employees Senate

 MEETING MINUTES

Present: Gay Barzee, Carol Bugni, Linda Burnett, Carol Carroll, Lisa Clements, Shelly Doty, Guen Johnson, Jaque, Johnson, Brenda Ross, Kenny Wiscombe

Guests: Jodi Brawley

Jodi Brawley, Health Educator with the Health and Wellness Center, gave a presentation on the upcoming employee wellness incentive program, Passport: Roundtrip to Health.  This program is for all faculty and staff and can include one family member.  Registration for the program is from January 29 to February 19.  The program will run from February 12 to May 4, a 12 week program for physical fitness and nutrition.  There is no cost for the program and prizes will be given away throughout the 12 weeks.  Log onto http://passport.roundtriptohealth.com/hesdemo to find out more.  More information will be sent to all BSU employees soon.  Jodi is also looking for wellness ambassadors to help motivate people in your areas.  A webcast will be presented Friday, January 19, from 8:45 to 10 am, in the Bishop Barnwell Room, SUB.  If you are interested in being an ambassador please contact Jodi at JodiBrawley@boisestate.edu.

Holiday Time Off for 2007

Jane Buser asked the ACE Senate to discuss holiday time off for December/January 2007.  The suggestion made was closure from Monday, December 24, 2007 through Tuesday, January 1, 2008.

Distinguished Lecture Series

A new representative has been chosen for this committee as the previous ACE representative, Connie Charlton, has taken a professional position and is no longer eligible for ACE Senate.  Guen Johnson volunteered to take on the responsibility with Brenda Ross as co-representative.   Responsibilities include making flight and hotel reservations for the Distinguised Lecture Series speakers.

NAGE/SEIU

The National Association of Government Employees asked if we would like a representative to attend one of our ACE meetings to provide information and answer questions.  The ACE Senate agreed to this and a time will be set at a later date.

Write Your Legislator Day

Write Your Legislator Day is set for January 23, from 11:30-1:30 in the SUB, Jordan A.  Most members of the ACE Senate will be in attendance.  The senate will assist those wishing to write to their legislators in developing letters.  Needed items will be supplied, including paper, pen, envelope and stamp.  Sample letters will be available.  Please bring your concerns and questions and let your legislators know.

2007 Classified Employee Recognition Luncheon

The 2007 Classified Employee Recognition Luncheon has been scheduled for November 13, 2007.  More details will be sent out in the fall.

Committee Reports

None of the committees have met.

CEC

The Idaho Legislature's Committee on Employee Compensation (CEC) met on January 5, 2007, in the Idaho Statehouse.  Gay Barzee made a presentation on behalf of the Boise State University classified employees.  Her presentation will be posted on the ACE website.
