MEETING MINUTES

Present: Julie Clarkson, Gary Tucker, Denise Ooley, Connie Charlton, Cathy Hampton, Carol Carroll, Lois Santillanes, Brenda Ross Theresa Bow, Carol Bugni, Gay Barzee, Cindy Bancroft-Stigall, Ann Winslow.

Meeting Called to Order: President Clarkson called the meeting to order at 10:45 a.m. in the Student Union Boyington Room as per notice given.

Approve June Meeting Minutes: Motion was made (hapton) and seconded (Charlton) to approve minutes of the June 9, 2005 meeting, with one minor change. The motion passed unanimously.

Finalize Proposed Meeting Dates: It was agreed by general consensus to set meetings on the third Thursday of each month at 10:45 a.m.

Finalize Committee Assignments: The committee list was distributed. Volunteers to serve on two new committees are: Ooley - Safety and Security; Barzee - Campus Climate. Volunteers for other committees not previously assigned are: Carroll - Bicycle Committee: Ooley - Rake UP Boise; Tucker - Goodwill Committee Fund Raising. (see attached)

1% Tempo9rary Salary Increase: Ms. Clarkson stated that the 1% temporary salary increase based on FY06 salaries will be processed on the October 7 paycheck for eligible employees.

Spring Luncheon: Spring luncheon co-chairs Bow and Ooley announced Tuesday, May 9, 2005 as the date for the ACE Spring Luncheon. They suggest booking 2007 now as it was very difficult to find an open date. It was noted that November 1 is the Classified Employees Recognition Luncheon.

Emeritus Applications and Criteria: Emeritus Committee chair Bugni presented four applications which were reviewed and unanimously approved. Another application was previously approved and two are pending. Applications received by the September 15 meeting will be eligible to be considered for approval prior to the November 1 luncheon.

Legislative Information: Pres. Clarkson reported Jane Buser and Mark Dunham met with the presidents of the three employee senates to address how legislative matters are handled. She would like to invite Dunham to a future meeting as his talk was especially informative.

Committee Reports:

Parking: Clarkson stated that the football game scheduled for Wednesday, Sept. 21 will create a parking problem. The recommendation is that no deliveries be scheduled after 2 pm and it is suggested that you not move your car during the day - you probably won't get another space. It was suggested by a Senator that the University make other arrangements for off-campus parking and provide a shuttle between those areas and campus. Some downtown parking and shuttle service will be available. Parking consultants are preparing three estimates for possibilities for the next parking garage. It is expected that parking rates will be increased to help pay for the next garage.

Meeting Adjourned: Clarkson adjourned the meeting at 11:45 a.m.

ASSOCIATION OF CLASSIFIED EMPLOYEES SENATE 2005-2006

The Association of Classified Employees (ACE) Senate consists of 15 members elected to represent University classified staff on various committees( including the President’s Cabinet), to head up special projects, and to keep classified staff informed on issues that affect us. The ACE Senate meets in the Student Union the third Thursday of each month from 10:45 - 11:45 a.m. during the academic year. All classified staff are welcome to attend any of the monthly meetings -- just show up!
