July 4th Holiday Proposal:
The University
is considering a proposal to close on Friday, July 5th this
year. Because of the new summer
schedule most offices would only be open a half day anyway, so closing may
present significant energy savings.
Employees would be given a couple different options for how to account
for the time they would miss.
Information concerning this decision will be forthcoming from the HR
department.
Health Insurance:
The office of
Group Insurance will be sending out insurance benefit changes. These changes
should be out the second or third week in May.
Emeriti Application:
An application
for emeritus status was discussed and approved.
Committee Reports:
Luncheon
wrap-up- Rex Hadley and Julie Clarkson reported that 152 lunches were served at
our annual luncheon. Costs were as expected and there will be a small
carry-over of local funds for the next fiscal year.
Paint the Town:
Kenny Wiscombe
reported that this event will take place on June 8, 2002. House selections have
not been finalized at this time. Flyers will be sent out after May 13 with all
the information. We would like this to be a complete Boise State community
service and are in contact with the Professional staff and Faculty. If you
would like to volunteer or need additional information please contact Kenny
Wiscombe, Kimber Shaw, Mark Plew or Sarah Saras.
Habitat for Humanity:
An “All Women
Build” project is looking for volunteers to help build a house. Women
contractors run the project and all the labor will be done by women. The new
homeowner, a single mother, is one of our own Boise State employees.
Informational flyers will be distributed soon. Anyone who would like to
participate is asked to contact Becky Blank or Reida Bow.
Elections:
ACE Officer
ballots have been sent out and must be returned to Wanda Lynn Riley not later
then 5 p.m. 5/8/02. Lois Santillanes will notify the nominees of the outcome.
Homecoming:
Rita Nuxoll
attended the first meeting of a new advisory committee on BSU Homecoming. This group will guide the student planning
committee and includes representatives from various groups across campus. The intent is to find ways to broaden the
involvement in Homecoming beyond just the football game, including all of
campus (students, faculty, and staff) as well as alumni and members of the
community. Preliminary discussion
included ideas such as decorating contests, emeriti events, and a fun run. If you have ideas of how to get staff
involved please forward these on to Rita.
Meeting
adjourned at 2:30 p.m.
The next ACE meeting will be called by our new President
