ASBSU Senate Forum

CALL
TO ORDER: President Rita Nuxoll called
the meeting to order at 3 p.m. New and
outgoing members were included in this transitional meeting.
MEETING
SCHEDULE: ACE will meet on the first
Thursday of each month at 1:30 p.m.
There will be no meeting in July.
COMMITTEE
ASSIGNMENTS: Members volunteered to
serve on various committees. Rita will
send an official list to each member when all committee assignments have been
confirmed.

Some
discussion was held about the viability of the Paint the Town activity and
whether ACE might want to look at a different community service project. Rita will talk with Blaine Eckles and Alex
Feldman from the Professional and Faculty Senates, respectively, to get their
input, then reintroduce this topic on a future ACE agenda.
PRESIDENT’S
CABINET: Rita reported the highlights
from the President’s Cabinet meeting:
·
An
increase in the application fee was approved.
The fee will be $30 (formerly it was $20). The price for an official transcript will be raised from $3.00 to
$5.00. Wording changes will be made to
the student absence policy.
Commencement will be held two times per year, May and December.
·
Skiing
and softball will be added to women sports in 2002/03 and 2007/08,
respectively.
·
Einar
Norton is the new coordinator of BSU’s energy conservation program. Various ideas are being considered for
conserving energy costs, among them the possibility of consolidating classes
into fewer buildings.
·
American
Express will continue to be the provider of corporate credit cards for BSU
employees.
·
Per
diem rates for travel are changing as of July 1, 2001. Peggy Davis, Travel Specialist, will be
distributing the details.
COMMITTEE
REPORTS:
Parking: Reida Bow reported that Bob Seibolt will develop a proposal for
transportation between the Children’s Center and the BSU campus. A flashing yellow light has been placed
above the crosswalk at Juanita Street and University Drive. No changes will be made to the parking
policy at Canyon County until the expanded campus opens.
OTHER: An open house will be held in October. Lisa Clements, Lois Santillanes, and Rhonda
Hughes are committee members for the open house event.
