Paint the Town is set for June 8, 2002.  Dr. Plew, Kimber Shaw, Sarah Saras and Kenny Wiscombe will be working on this and hope to get faculty, professional, and classified staff involved.  They are currently looking for a BSU retiree / emeriti who would qualify to have their house painted.  If you know of someone, please contact one of the above people.  More information will be forthcoming.  It was suggested that information be put in the Update, the HR Review, and perhaps a mass-mailing flyer.

ACE luncheon: Final preparations are being made for the luncheon, scheduled for Monday, April 22nd, 2002.  Mike Dome and Rex Hadley are taking reservations and will compile a master list to be used at check-in.  Sam Sandmire will be our guest speaker and her talk is entitled “Gold Medal Attitude”.  Invitations have been extended to Dr. Ruch, the Vice Presidents, Wanda Lynn Reilly, and Chuck Scheer.  Connie Charlton is working with a committee to select the Outstanding Classified Employee.

Nominations/election update:  Lois reported that she only received 48 nomination sheets back.  She will meet with the nominations committee on Friday afternoon to go over those she has received.

President’s Cabinet:  Rita Nuxoll reported on the President’s Cabinet meeting held on April 1, 2002.  Policies discussed include the proposal for honorary degrees and the newly rewritten professional staff policies.  The majority of the conversation focused on the issues of the selection of a student speaker for commencement and the Right, Wrong, Justified exhibit scheduled to be in the quad April 8-12, 2002.

Committee reports:

Health & Wellness Committee – Lisa Clements will be unable to attend the final meeting of the semester.  Rhonda Hughes volunteered to act as a substitute for her.

Suggestion Box – The suggestion box has been taken down temporarily and will be stored until a new location can be determined.  There is some question whether the box is a University suggestion box or whether it is intended primarily for employees.  The discussion will be continued at the next meeting.

Parking – Julie Clarkson reported on a proposal to increase the rates for parking violations on campus.  A task force is being put together from the Parking Committee to look at the proposal and Julie hopes to serve as a member.

Food Service – Nancy Rountree reported that Fine Host has a variety of promotions coming up for the end of the year.

Women’s Center – Rhonda Hughes reported that the women’s history month activities had a tremendous attendance with the exception of the musical which didn’t sell as well as they had hoped.  The Women’s Center has a variety of activities planned to coincide with Generation Life.  “Take Back the Night” is scheduled for April 18th, with people meeting at the amphitheater at 6:00 pm.  Volunteers should arrive between 5:15 and 5:30 pm.

The meeting adjourned at 3:00 p.m. The next ACE meeting will be May 2, 2002 @1:30 p.m. in the Ah Fong room in the Student Union.
