Committee Reports:

1.        Budget Committee – Matt Irvin – Is no longer a classified employee so must step down from the board.  He reviewed how the budget hearings fit into the year.  Next cycle starts late April/early May.  We need to seek a new person to represent ACE on Budget Committee.

2.        Parking - Julie Clarkson – Four items are scheduled to be presented to the President's Cabinet next week:  1) Because two floors are consistently vacant in the new parking garage, a recommendation is being made to increase utilization by converting floors 3 & 4 to reserved parking.  The suggestion is to move T lot reserved pass holders to the top floor of the garage; to sell new reserved permits for third floor covered parking at a slightly higher rate; and continue pay-as-you-go on floors one and two.  The T reserved lot would be converted to general parking.  2) With the SUB lot getting low use, the proposal is to reduce the rate charged to groups to encourage utilization and to open the lot to general permit holders when it is not reserved by any groups.  3) As a result of complaints regarding parking while school is not in session, a recommendation is being made to make all permits valid in all lots during intercession.  4) The final proposal is to create a new kind of permit at a rate of $10 which would be valid one semester only with restricted dates and times. These would be available to patrons of the youth and special programs sponsored by Boise State (i.e. music lessons, gymnastics programs, summer physical education programs).  Parking Committee meetings are now open.  The regular meeting time is the 3rd Monday of the month at 3:00 in the Senate Forum room in the SUB.

3.        ACE Spring Luncheon and General Meeting – Kenny Wiscombe – Luncheon is scheduled on Thursday, April 12.

4.        Risk Management Committee – Cindy Lock-Smith – Jim Coffey, Risk Management director, scheduled an open house Friday, Nov. 10, 2-4:00 pm, in three locations--Administration Building, room 304; Lincoln Hall, and Environmental Safety Office, Health Sciences Bldg., 1113 Denver. Safety Awareness Day is scheduled on Feb. 16, 10 am - 3 pm at the Pavilion.

5.        Women’s Center – Ann Winslow – Director Melissa Wintrow reviewed upcoming events—Domestic Violence Awareness Month, Mentor for a Day, and the self-defense workshop.   Chair Danielle McKinney scheduled a retreat Nov. 11 to create a mission statement and a five-year strategic plan.  Discussed co-sponsorship of events/programs with other organizations.

Survey Update:  Preliminary findings of the professional analysis of the survey will be turned over to Cathy Hampton November 2.

Next Meeting:  Dec. 6, 3:00 p.m., Senate Forum--SUB.
