ACE Senate Meeting Minutes

Attending: Rita Nuxoll, Connie Charlton, Cathy Hampton, Reida Bow, Lois Santillanes, Cindy Lock-Smith, Shirley Turner, Merrill Strong, Julie A. Clarkson, Ken Wiscombe, Mike Dome, Nancy Rountree, Ann Winslow
The
meeting was called to order by President Nuxoll. She distributed minutes of the President’s Cabinet Meeting Held
July 10th.
Meeting
with Jane Buser. Rita, Alex Feldman, and
Blaine Eckles met with Jane Buser, Director of Human Resource Services, on July
19 to discuss current issues affecting University personnel. They have not given up on getting the Rule
of 85 passed but will concentrate primarily on optional retirement plans this
year. PERSI is also doing a study on
medical insurance for retirees. Julie
Clarkson is on the HR Advisory Committee, and encourages classified staff to
contact her with questions.
Update
on Classified Survey Progress: Julie
reported that the process of inputting
over 2,700 comments has been completed, and that the next step will be
to sort them by topic. The final survey
results will be presented to the President’s Executive Committee on September
13, and will be made available to all classified employees the latter part of
September.
Committee
Assignments: The Committee assignments are not complete
as yet. If you know of someone who
would be interested in representing ACE at meetings of the Wellness Center,
please have them contact Rita Nuxoll.
Committee
Reports:
- Parking: Julie and Reida report that the parking garage hopes to open August 24, making available 650 spaces. The rate will be .75 per hour for everyone---students, faculty, staff, visitors. Attendants will be in the garage and other parking areas on campus handing out brochures the first week or two of the semester. New signage will go up on campus the latter part of August encouraging alternate forms of transportation.
- Recognition Luncheon: Lois is working on a Human Resources Committee to review recognition gifts.
New
Faculty/Staff Orientation Aug. 23: Rita will
represent ACE at orientation.
Next meeting: September 6, 3:00 – 4:00
p.m., Senate Forum at the SUB. All
meetings are open----any classified employee may attend.
