ACE
SENATE MINUTES
Wednesday,
April 4, 2001
Attending: Rita Nuxoll, Connie Charlton, Reida Bow, Julie Clarkson, Noreen Camacho, Mike Dome, Shirley Turner, Nancy Rountree, and Kenny Wiscombe
President
Rita Nuxoll called the meeting to order at 3:10 p.m. in the Senate
Chamber.
1)
Minutes from President’s Cabinet, March 5: Rita distributed a copy of the minutes from the President’s
Cabinet meeting. It was noted that the Grade Replacement Policy has been
approved. An update was given on
changes to the Absence Policy and Late Add Policy. ACE discussion centered heavily on the parking fee
schedules. Julie Clarkson provided
input from the parking committee. Of
especial concern is the fact that the Parking Committee was not given the
opportunity to discuss the proposals prior to the President’s Cabinet meeting
owing to the cancellation of the Parking Committee meeting. Final reading of
the proposed fee schedule will be done at the April Cabinet meeting. The proposed increase is expected to
be based on an across the board percentage increase.
The Governor’s executive order on energy
conservation was discussed. Boise State
University is developing a plan on energy conservation which may include such
things as turning out lights when rooms are not in use; turning
off computers if they will be unused for 2 hours or more; and consolidating
classes into fewer buildings.
The 2001-2002 Holiday Schedule (December 24 and 25,
December 31 and January 1) was approved.
The schedule will be sent to the Idaho State Board of Education for
their permanent records.
2)
Update on ACE Luncheon: A speaker
is confirmed and flyers have been mailed.
Cost of the lunch is $2 for classified employees and $10 for
professional or faculty employees.
Nominees for ACE Senate will be introduced at the luncheon. An award will be made to the Outstanding
Classified Employee.
3)
Update on Parking (included in agenda item #1).
4)
Tuition Waiver for Employees: Changes in tuition waiver criteria are being
considered. Some of the issues being
discussed include the number of classes/credits employees can take, giving
supervisors and departments more autonomy in approving the employee’s requested
class schedule, and the idea of expanding the waiver to dependents or allowing
them to attend at a lower rate.
Expanding the waiver would have to go through the State Board for
approval. Email any suggestions you
have concerning fee waivers to Julie Clarkson at jclarkso@boisestate.edu
5)
Committee Reports: There were no committee
reports.
The next meeting will be at 3:00 p.m. on Wednesday, May 2 in the ASBSU
Senate Chamber. Meetings are open to
all classified employees. For more
